We are quickly reaching the tipping point where most if not all of our taxes will be going to feed the insatiable demands of the public pensions. Between the non-negotiable demands for annual pay raises and benefits, the unfunded pension liabilities and their reluctance to negotiate less expensive, less costly health insurance programs, public employee unions are crushing taxpayers. The greed and abuse need to be haltes right now.

Is there anything that our over zealous Massachusetts Democrats in the State Legislature won't tax. State Senator Brian Joyce (D) from Milton seems to think so. Senator Joyce is proposing a two cent tax to be paid at the checkout on plastic bags with the tax rising to fifteen cents in seven years. Thats right, a tax on plastic grocery bags. If your average grocery order uses five bags thats an additional seventy five cents you will need to ante up. We Republicans think that you pay too many taxes now. How about it.

The Massachusetts House vote of 126to 20 to pass a supplemental budget that included retroactive pay raises for House and Senate Chairs is just another example of why we must keep our eyes open to the dealings of our state legislature. These retroactive pay raises for three officials were tacked on to a $70 million dollar snow removal budget. The vote was pretty much along party lines with all Republicans voting against the bill along with one courageous Democrat. The Republican opponents called the pay raises outrageous and unnecessary in light of a looming $1 billion budget this year and impending cuts in many important programs. But what is a program cut in comparision to a raise for an already well paid public official. priorities must be recognized. It should be noted that the House leadership tried to sneak these raises through during an informal session without debate and without roll call. Thanks to Rep. Brad Jones (R) for his valiant effort in blocking this outrage. Unfortunately, the Democratic Democratic house, in formal session overode the Republican minorities effort. Whose looking out for you.

Fellow Republicans- There will be a fundraiser for retiiring State Representative Mary Rogeness on Thursday evening, March 20 at 7:00PM at the Brigham Masonic Lodge located at 59 Winsor Street in Ludlow, MA. Tickets are $40.00. Representative Rogeness has representated us well in the House and has supported the Republican agenda throughout her tenure. This event is an opportunity to thank her for her service and perhaps meet the Republican candidates who will be seeking to replace her. As Republicans it is important for us to support the Republican candidate seeking to replace her in Boston. We cannot afford to cede another seat to the Democrats.

Our Governor, Deval Patrick, spent a great deal of his time during his campaign criticizing Governor Romney for the amount of time Romney sent out of state. It appears that Mr. Deval is also spending a great deal of time out of state helping his good friend Obama run for President.Yesterday Lt. Governor Tim Murray had to sign a bill as Governor Patrick was in New York on "personal business". A little hypocrisy Governor?

The Governor is proposing a $3.8 billion bond proposal. The Legislature has just approved $392 million in new tax increases. There is a $1.3 billion gap in the State budget. What gives? Is this all the Democrats know how to do? Tax increases, bond increases, increase in total per capita debt. I have a novel idea to propose...How about reducing spending?

At its regularly scheduled meeting the Agawam Republican Town Committee, in a unanimous vote of its members, chose to endorse Jeff Beatty a wounded Delta Force combat veteran for United States Senate. The committee feels that Mr. Beattys background in counter terrorism as an FBI agent, CIA Counter Terrorism Agent and as a well known and long time security consultant will serve us well in the United States Senate during these troubling and dangerous times. It should also be noted that Jeff Beatty is the only American to have served in all three of our most elite Counter Terrorism organizations: The Delta Force,FBI HRT and CIA CTC. While security is a top priority, the economy immigration and second amendment rights are issues that continue to need to be addressed. Jeff Beatty believes that the fastest way to give every American worker a pay raise is to cut taxes. Jeff Beatty believes in No amnesty and no benefits for illegal immigrants. He also believe that we need to enforce existing laws and secure our borders. Jeff Beatty- hard work-strong ethics-common sense.

This is a statement I would like to hear from a Republican candidate for President.

"I have little interest in streamlining government or making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is needed before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituants intetrests I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty and in that cause I am doing the very best I can".

The current race for United States Senator from Massachusetts may prove more interesting than originally thought. Certainly the medical situation with Senator Kennedy has changed the dynamic and opens the possibility that we may have two new Senators. Possible? certainly, probable? hard to say. Suffice to say that there is certain amount of interest on the part of several "concerned" Democrats in being appointed by our Governor to the seat should Mr. Kennedy resign and step down. Senator Kerry has enormous problems of his own receiving a stinging rebuke by members of his own party at the Democratic Convention on Saturday. His support of Barack Obama has angered many party officials and activists. His Democrat challenger received 23% of the delegate total, well more than the required 15%, and will appear on the ballot for a primary race. On the Republican side, our Junior Senator faces a strong challenge from a well qualified Republican Jeff Beatty, a wounded war veteran, FBI agent and CIA operative in Counter Teriorism. Republican activists across the state are excited at this opportunity to support a strong challenger who stands a real chance of unseating our lackluster Junior U.S. Senator. Meanwhile, keep current and keep informed. This will be a most interesting election.

More and more communities across the Commonwealth are saying no in a resounding voice to requests for a proposition 2 1/2 overide. More and more communities are rejecting overide requests and insisting that their communities live within their means or cut expenses. Thats right, cut expenses as opposed to going to the taxpayer every time our elected leaders go on a spending spree. I say, it's about time.
